Vancouver Trip

What's going on with my Project?

I am currently on the editing phase for this class's final project.

Last week I planned a trip to Vancouver with 3 people, two of which I had never met before but offered to help me with the skate poetry video project voluntarily.

So far I am very happy with what I have, but I am considering doing one more trip on wednesday for a couple shots that I wish I had gotten but instead of Vancouver I will be going to Victoria seeing as I can save on the ferry expenses and variety is always great as long as I can connect it during my editing process.

I also arranged with the local Art gallery/tattoo shop Electric Umbrella and the owner of Lurk, Russ Morland, to have a showing of this short video in december.

We decided to do a double feature premiere. Someone else is having a skate video premiere and mine will be a video about skateboarding, so they will be different although relating very well which we both established it was an interesting idea.

So now I'm basically pulling my hair off trying to get all my finals completed in appropriate time.

PS:
This served as one of the BEST learning experiences because I manage to meet and work with 2 volunteers who I have never worked or even talked to before, and we still had a very progressive and effective result. The reason why I think it was a great learning experience is because I look forward to working more often with more volunteers and now that I broke off the comfort zone of always trying to work by myself I think I can achieve greater results.

ahhh no timeee, omg.... Update of everything.

The past weeks have been really intense and full of work. To start my close friend passed away and he had no family here and I had to organize meetings between his family and other relations that he had in Canada, so I traveled to Victoria to support his past host family and didn't find anytime to even think about school or projects.

This week I went to Vancouver to film for the final project, and I got some great shots of the big city that will be represented as described in the poem. This project takes me away from other life things that been happening, so I just wanted to mention, its an amazing experience and I see myself doing more similar works.

And today I finally saw the class was registered and felt a huge relief beat hitting my soul, so I'm very happy that everything went through! :)

Now I plan on keep filming and try to get the right shots. (REALLY HARD, I had a filmmaker that lived with me and was going to help with a lot of the scenes but then he moved to Japan, and theres is no one else that can film skateboarding like him around, but I might ask Brent to help a brother out because he has a good understanding for these things.)

Keeping up with what Ive been doing.

The past couple of weeks I was really busy, there were several unexpected immigration problems lately to do with my student visa extension and stay in Canada.
So I've been really busy trying to clear that situation and which was quite stressful regardless of the inconvenient schedule conflicts between mandatory appointments and school.

Besides that I finished the Brazil paper and I am content with the issue created, I had a couple of reviewers to give me some personal opinions and it was useful to strengthen the material presented.

My poem is almost complete (The written form) and I still have to create a digital format recital once its complete. Throughout the poem I included a mass of abstracted language that surrounds a strong idea/feel behind skateboarding and other very specific and personal thoughts about it, I even got as far as discussing about life/death and the holy.

I was a little worried with the final audio performance because of the due date rolling in but I will finish it up. Then I've decided to edit it more efficiently and finalize it with the skate poetry (part 2) the completion of the project.

This is the new blog for my digital journal entries.

This week I’ve been working on the instrumental music for the final video project.
I am almost satisfied with the rawness of sound I got but I still need to work on the noise and instrument contrast.
Today I am starting to brainstorm and a web of ideas on the main points of what I want to talk about in my Brazilian research paper.

Here is a sample of the audio I am working on:
